What's It Like to Build a Kurk Homes Custom Home at Copper Ridge?
Kurk Homes is a third-generation custom builder founded in 1989 with a 125-mile build radius around the New Braunfels area. They build truly custom (down to the 100th of an inch) in any style you want: farmhouse, Spanish, modern, contemporary. The home we toured sits on a one-acre lot in Copper Ridge, a gated, security-guarded community with panoramic Hill Country views, just 10 minutes from H-E-B and 15 minutes from downtown New Braunfels. Highlights inside: open kitchen with farmhouse single-basin sink and pot filler, wet bar/butler's pantry combo, vaulted-ceiling primary suite, standalone tub with custom curve detailing, closet with a center storage island that connects directly to the laundry room, upstairs living area with a full bath that flexes as office/playroom/media room, and an elevated back patio that extends from the main living area to the primary suite.

If you want acreage, Hill Country views, and a custom builder who doesn't blink at unique floor plans, Copper Ridge with Kurk Homes deserves a spot on your list. We toured one of their builds and walked away convinced it's one of the strongest options in the New Braunfels custom market for buyers who want privacy and real customization without giving up community amenities or location.
Who Kurk Homes Is
Drake covers the builder background at 0:07. Kurk Homes is a true custom builder, family-owned and now in its third generation since founding in 1989. They customize down to the 100th of an inch, which is unusual even among high-end builders. The other meaningful detail: they have a 125-mile build radius around New Braunfels, so if you already own a lot anywhere in that range, they can come to you.
Kitchen: Where Custom Builds Distinguish Themselves
Michelle walks the kitchen at 0:39. The model has a large island built for gatherings, a farmhouse single-basin sink, and a gas cooktop with a pot filler installed above. The oven and cooktop combo is meaningful for buyers who actually cook regularly (single-basin farmhouse sinks are a quiet win for cleaning sheet pans and large baking dishes).
The standout feature is the wet bar plus butler's pantry combo. The wet bar is built for entertaining (perfect for old-fashioneds for the bourbon drinkers in the room) and the butler's pantry behind it gives you ample storage that keeps the main kitchen looking clean. For families who entertain regularly, this combination eliminates the visual clutter that kills the look of even high-end kitchens.
The dining room connects to the kitchen in two ways: through the butler's pantry walkway and through the main island walkway. That dual access matters for hosting, since people naturally flow between food, drinks, and conversation in different directions.
The Hill Country Views Are the Whole Point
When you live in the Hill Country, you build the home around the views. The model uses oversized windows that bring panoramic views into both the living room and the kitchen. This is one of those things that's almost impossible to retrofit into a production home and that defines the experience of living in a custom Hill Country build.
Primary Suite: Vaulted Ceilings and Customizable Style
Primary suite at 2:03. Vaulted ceilings throughout the bedroom, which we'd specifically call out as something to insist on if you build with Kurk. Once you live with high ceilings, going back to standard 9-foot is hard. The bathroom features a freestanding tub and architectural curves that show off Kurk's custom design capability. Whether you want farmhouse, Spanish, modern, or anything in between, Kurk can build to that style.
The closet design is one of the smartest features in the home. A center storage island in the middle of the walk-in closet adds usable surface area for folding plus drawer storage that frees up your bedroom from dressers. From the closet, you walk straight into the laundry room. Connecting the closet directly to laundry is one of those features that becomes essential the moment you experience it.

Upstairs: Versatile Living Area + Bedrooms With Privacy
The upstairs has a full second living area with its own full bath. That space could be a playroom, office, media room, game room, or even a fifth bedroom if you ever needed the conversion. Two additional bedrooms sit upstairs, one on each side of the fireplace, which gives kids or guests real privacy from each other.
Outdoor Living: The Hill Country's Calling Card
Drake's favorite feature at 4:54. The elevated back patio is the home's true selling point. The main living area opens to a covered outdoor patio for entertaining, and there's a separate extended patio attached directly to the primary suite for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. Outdoor living separates a custom Hill Country home from a cookie-cutter build, and Kurk does it right.
Why Copper Ridge Specifically
Drake covers location at 5:32. Copper Ridge is one of the only communities in the area with a manned gate and security guard. It sits on FM 46, about 10 minutes from H-E-B and 15 minutes from downtown New Braunfels. Loop 337 access gives you easy I-35 in either direction (north toward Austin, south toward San Antonio). The community has the larger lot sizes (acre+) that buyers looking for privacy and acreage rarely find inside the New Braunfels city limits, plus the gate-and-guard layer that meaningfully increases the day-to-day security feel.
Note: water in parts of the Texas Hill Country is a real consideration for acreage buyers. Worth understanding the well/water situation in any specific lot you're evaluating.
Who This Build Fits
Right fit if you want acreage and Hill Country views, you value gated security with no through-traffic, you want a true custom build with style flexibility, and you're comfortable in the price range that matches Kurk Homes' work and Copper Ridge's lot prices.
Wrong fit if you want walkability to retail and amenities (you'll need to drive for those things from Copper Ridge), or you want a smaller lot with HOA-managed exterior maintenance.
If acreage in a gated New Braunfels community with a true custom builder is the build you're picturing, we'd love to walk Copper Ridge with you and connect you to the Kurk Homes team. Reach out to The Carter Team and we'll set up a tour.
