Hill Country address. San Antonio access. One of the fastest-growing communities in Comal County.

Get to Know Bulverde

Bulverde sits where the Texas Hill Country begins to give way to San Antonio's northern growth — and it's threading that needle better than most places manage to. You get cedar-covered hills, reasonable lot sizes, lower density than the city, and still about 25-30 minutes to San Antonio's Medical Center or Stone Oak's retail corridor.

Families who want more house and more land than Stone Oak can offer — without giving up proximity to San Antonio — have been finding their way here in steady numbers.

Local Adventures

  • Natural Bridge Caverns — One of the most impressive show caves in the nation, right in Bulverde's backyard. Cave tours descend 180 feet underground. Above ground: zip lines, gem mining, and a maze.

  • Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch — Texas's most visited wildlife ranch. Drive-through safari with 40+ species including giraffes and zebras.

  • Old Tunnel State Park Bat Flights (1 hr west) — 3 million Mexican free-tailed bats launch at dusk from April through October. Genuinely spectacular.

  • Guadalupe River State Park (30 min) — 13+ miles of trails, swimming holes, camping, and river access.

  • Texas Ski Ranch (Spring Branch, 20 min) — Cable wakeboarding, zip lines, axe-throwing, and dinner shows.

  • Canyon Lake (20 min) — Boating, kayaking, tubing, fishing. A regular weekend destination spring through fall.

Restaurants & Local Spots

  • La Hacienda de los Barrios — Texas Tex-Mex institution just down on 281. Known for puffy tacos and a festive atmosphere.

  • District on 46 (Spring Branch, 10 min) — Food trucks, live music, giant play area. In the regular rotation for Bulverde families.

  • Gennaro's Trattoria (Canyon Lake area) — Exceptional Italian. Locals know it; visitors are always surprised.

  • Wildflour Bakery & Cafe (Canyon Lake) — Beloved local breakfast spot.

  • Freiheit Country Store (New Braunfels, 20 min) — Outdoor stage, cold beer, family-friendly crowd.

Neighborhoods Worth Knowing

  • Johnson Ranch — Large, established master-planned community with pool, parks, trail system, and strong community identity

  • Ventana — Newer master-planned development with Hill Country views and modern finishes

  • Rockwall Ranch — Well-regarded community with newer builds and easy access to both 281 and 46

  • Spring Creek Estates — Slightly larger lots, more established feel, good mix of resale and newer construction

Thinking About Bulverde?

Bulverde moves quickly, and the difference between communities matters more than the listings make it seem.
